Emily Grim-Throop
My name is Emily Grim-Throop (pronounced like Girl Scout Troop).
I ask a lot of questions, distill a lot of research, find the outlier solutions, and help brands articulate their stories. Helping brands find their way in the world is my specialty.
My work crosses digital content + social strategy, brand planning, copywriting, and comms planning. I’ve done all of those things at creative agencies for the biggest beverage brand in the world, the #1 home improvement retailer, the #1 table wine brand, the leader in robotics-assisted surgery, the #3 cruise line. Not to forget … the upstart spirits holding group; America’s Diner; the printing, shipping, and small business emporium with the big corporate name. And more. My work has been recognized by the Webbys, the Jay Chiat Awards, the ADDYs, and Cannes Lions. I am a member of IADAS and judge for the Webbys and Lovies Awards.
I am currently on the Brand & Creative Solutions team at Pinterest, leading creative strategy for US retailers in Home & Lifestyle. Put simply, I help the world’s biggest retail brands make better advertising creative on Pinterest, whether that’s a lighthouse creative idea that fuels shopping, full-funnel content strategies, or putting our platform insights into clear, measurable action.
I also publish a monthlyish food & culture newsletter called In Good Taste.
Et cetera:
I have a degree in French from a women’s college and started my career in the higher education/nonprofit world. I spoke at SXSW Interactive 2015 about how “It Takes All Kinds to Work in Advertising.”
I love food: reading about it, writing about it, learning how to cook it. I have exceptional talent with salad dressings and key lime pie. I will always choose salty over sweet. And I’m the person you want on your trivia team.
